I am having the time of my life. After more than 20 years away from horses, I have returned to my first love. This time around it’s a lot harder. The horses look taller, the jumps appear bigger and the bills, well, they’re as insurmountable as a Grand Prix course. But all if it is making me happier than ever. Getting back into the horse world after so much time away means big personal victories and epic fails (not to mention falls). The help, encouragement and “words of wisdom” from kindred spirits have helped me become a stronger rider and a stronger person. Now I am hoping to pass some of that insight along to other equine obsessed adults.
In “real life” I am an investigative journalist. My profession has taken me to places as far flung as Afghanistan and Sierra Leone. I have also spent a lot of time in some of the smallest Canadian towns you’ve ever heard of (or more likely, have never heard of). Most of my career has been spent in broadcast news with a major network. Over the last few years I have been able to focus on projects I have a passion for encompassing the areas of; Human Rights, Accessibility, Government Mismanagement, Health, and Animal Welfare.
And yes, I have managed to work in quite a few horse stories along the way.
